About Amy

 Amy is a certified Rolfing® Structural Integrator and a Yoga Alliance-Certified 500-Hour E-RYT Yoga Teacher

Both her therapeutic work and her yoga instruction are characterized by a focus on structural alignment with the intention of increasing movement potential and energy flow throughout the body. Her workshops and classes combine active, energizing sequences with deep mindfulness to transform mental and physical patterns.

Her Training

Amy has been a student of yoga since 1995, in both the Ashtanga and the Iyengar systems, and has taught full-time since 2000. Since she received her first certification, she has completed a total of six yoga teacher 200/500 hour trainings as well as a 2,000 hour training with Aadil Palkhivala in 2005. Amy co-owned of a yoga studio in Las Vegas, New Mexico (2001-2007), before becoming a co-owner of YogaSource in Santa Fe (2007-2017), where she continues to teach both publicly and privately, as well as co-directing the teacher training program.

Her Approach

Amy’s approach to yoga has been informed by continuous study of yoga and other practices, including Vipassana meditation and Pilates, which she has been certified to teach since 2001. She incorporates Pilates strengthening techniques into her yoga classes in order to refine the element of core support in her students’ asana practice.

An interest in movement and the desire to understand embodiment more deeply led Amy to become a certified Rolfing® Structural Integrator in 2018. Her yoga teaching has been influenced by a growing understanding of structural and functional anatomy gained through her study of Rolfing, as well as by an ongoing interest in biomechanics and modern movement science. She is fascinated by the complex operations of human anatomy, and the intricate relationship of body and the mind. By supporting freedom, comfort and ease in movement and improving postural alignment, she feels that Rolfing Structural Integration is an invaluable asset to any yoga practice.

About Rolfing® Structural Integration

Rolfing Structural Integration comes from Dr Ida Rolf’s insights that the body is more at ease and functions most effectively when its structure is balanced in gravity. The goal of the Ten Series is to organize the parts of the body into an integrated whole that can function with maximum ease in gravity.

The challenge is that a lifetime of habits feels “normal”. Our bodies are so good at compensating that daily life can exacerbate some of these imbalances by overstressing some muscles while not using others at all.

Through Yoga and Rolfing we can address these “habits” and create a painfree balanced body.
